which is exactly the way I like my books

Have not read the book yet. I finished LONESOME DOVE last night. I mean after all it is a book not far off a thousand pages, which is exactly the way I like my books. As to COMANCHE MOON I don't like the book's format. It seems to be made on a pocket-book format, instead of a full size book. It leaves you reading in the crack of the book. I don't buy pocket books or paper-back books. Only full-size hardbacks. I like the leather bound too. The thing is COMANCHE MOON is probably long time out of print & I am very fortunate to get it in whatever format. Sincerely, thank you very much, Amazon.

The Frontier Is Life And The Search Is For Wisdom

While the prequel to the dynamic Lonesome Dove packs a powerful punch - a blur between good & evil, sadistic killers, bumbling politicians and rumbling battles - it is the oftentimes subtle interplay of characters through dialogue that makes the novel a classic.
Though August McCrae and Woodrow F. Call drive the 803 pages, author Larry McMurtry's delving into the endless/futile quest for love, the "taming" of a vast landscape with irreversible ramifications and noble quests destroyed through ignorance & greed brings special realism to this novel on the Real West.
And in the end, the themes are ultimately timeless, which makes the journey the reader takes so special on many levels.

The adventures with Call and Gus never seem to get boring

Awesome book about Woodrow and Gus tracking Comanche, a Mayan, and a renegades. Definitely a great read. Can't wait to read what happens next in Lonesome Dove
